Frequently asked questions

Should I consider using synthetic oil?

Many automakers require owners to use synthetic motor oil in their cars' engines. This is because synthetic oil has some advantages over conventional motor oil. It's designed to be more effective at: Resisting break-down, and thus lasts longer than mineral oil.

What parts should be replaced at what intervals?

Every vehicle has specific interval for specific parts which could be located in your user manual. The rule of thumb usually goes as followed; Fuel filter - Every 2 years or 24,000 miles. Power-steering fluid - Inspect level with every engine oil change, top-off as needed. Battery - Typically 48 to 60 months or as needed. Air filter - 12 months, 12,000 miles or as needed. Automatic trans fluid/filter - Every 2 years or 24,000 miles. Spark plugs - Every 30,000 to 100,000 miles. Engine belts & timing belts - Every 3 years or 36,000 miles for engine belts or 60,000 to 90,000 miles for the timing belt. Coolant - Every 2 years or 24,000 miles. Tires - At the minimum safe tread depth or 6 to 10 years. Brakes - Every 2 years or 24,000 miles (fluid), prior to minimum safe thickness (pads).

How do I keep track of routine maintenance?

Being a regular customer, we keep track of everything thats done or needs to be done to your vehicle. Most vehicles have a check list on their user manuals with what service is needed and when. Once those services are completed, we will check off the user manual service interval.

How important is a wheel alignment?

When tires and wheels are out of alignment, a number of problems can develop within a vehicle's various systems. When alignment is really bad, it's easy to tell as you drive. The vehicle will pull one way or the other. In other words, if you let go of the steering wheel and the vehicle immediately steers to the left or right, there's a good chance that there's an issue with your wheel alignment. Misalignment may also cause vibration that you'll feel especially in the steering wheel.

SImply put, proper wheel alignments allow for safer driving. Wheel alignment will also extend the life of your tires. Incorrectly aligned wheels are one of the main causes for uneven wear on a tire. Uneven tread wear will decrease the safe driving life of a tire, or in a worst case scenario may damage a tire beyond repair, requiring premature replacement.
